1. Order Confirmation & Processing

When you place an order with Doorstep Auto Parts, our team verifies vehicle compatibility (such as year, make, model, trim, engine code, and 17-digit VIN) and contacts our certified supplier network to verify donor unit availability and test records.

Once verified, you will receive an official order confirmation with a unique reference code (e.g., DS-XXXXXX) and details of your pre-authorized order.

Fulfillment Phase Typical Timeline Description

Packaging & Dispatch 3 – 5 Business Days Pallet strapping, crating, and carrier pickup
Carrier Transit 5 – 7 Business Days Freight or ground transit to destination
Tracking Availability Within 24–48 hrs of dispatch Carrier PRO number or tracking URL delivered via email

2. Shipping Methods & Freight Classifications

Due to significant variations in the physical size, weight, and fragility of automotive parts, shipments are routed via two primary delivery methods:

  • Heavy Mechanical Assemblies (LTL Freight): Complete engines, transmissions, transfer cases, rear differential axles, and truck beds are securely strapped to heavy-duty wooden pallets or fully enclosed wooden crates and transported via Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) regional or national freight carriers (such as R+L Carriers, Estes, Central Transport, or FedEx Freight).
  • Standard Parcel Ground: Alternators, starters, steering racks, brake calipers, headlights, AC compressors, and electronic control modules (ECMs) are individually packed with protective foam padding in heavy-gauge corrugated cartons and shipped via FedEx Ground, UPS, or USPS.
Commercial vs. Residential Delivery: Freight carriers require tractor-trailer accessibility. Commercial addresses with a standard loading dock or forklift receive seamless delivery. For residential or rural delivery addresses without equipment, a hydraulic liftgate service will be arranged to safely lower the pallet to curbside level.

3. Delivery Inspection & Receiving Instructions

It is essential that you or your designated mechanic thoroughly inspect the shipment before signing the carrier’s delivery receipt or Bill of Lading (BOL):

  1. Examine Outer Crate & Packaging: Check for crushed pallets, severed tie-down straps, oil or coolant leakage, cracked crate paneling, or punctured cardboard.
  2. Note Any Damage on the BOL: If any damage is visible, you must write "DAMAGED CRATE / DAMAGED UPON ARRIVAL" on the driver's delivery slip before signing. Signing a delivery receipt without noting damage certifies that the cargo arrived in good order and severely limits carrier damage claims.
  3. Refusal of Severe Damage: If an engine block is visibly cracked, a transmission bellhousing is fractured, or a body panel is deeply gouged due to forklift impact, you have the right to refuse delivery. Photograph the unit immediately and contact our dispatch desk at (888) 879-0515.
Important: Hidden or concealed transit damage must be reported to Doorstep Auto Parts within 48 hours of receipt with high-resolution photos of the packaging and affected component to qualify for carrier claim reimbursement.

4. Non-Delivery and Extended Delays

While Doorstep Auto Parts partners with reputable logistics providers, transit delays may occasionally arise from adverse weather conditions, highway closures, freight terminal congestion, or carrier mechanical difficulties.

If a confirmed shipment has not arrived within 30 days from the date of order placement, and the delay is not attributable to customer unavailability or delivery appointment scheduling issues, the customer is entitled to cancel the order and receive a full refund.

5. Shipping Coverage Area

We provide delivery throughout the Continental United States. Shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or offshore territories may require specialized freight forwarding quotes and extended transit windows. We currently do not offer standard consumer shipping to international destinations outside the United States.
